We all love to eat and drink, and there are a huge number of food and drink companies across the North. But do we really know what makes these products so great? Good design is as important for a loaf of bread or a bottle of beer as it is for any other product, and in this Rise and Design we’re going to hear about the stories behind some great products.

Speakers include:

Sam Dixon, Nestle

Sam has possibly the best job in the world, being a chocolate designer for Nestle, the largest food manufacturer in the world and home to brands such as Kit-Kat, Smarties and Yorkie. Sam will take us behind the scenes of his chocolate factory, and give us a glimpse of how they create such fabulous treats.

Mark Chambers, The Travelling Bee Company and Grant Marshal, DECIDE.

Honey is one of the oldest and most loved foodstuffs, and its production has barely changed in thousands of years. The Travelling Bee Company have taken a novel approach and take their bees all around the UK to give them access to the best and most varied range of flowers. And it clearly works as they’ve just won the DBA Design Effectiveness Award with their design partners DECIDE, for the massive growth they’ve seen in the last year. Mark and Grant will tell us more.
