Three innovative North East companies have been shortlisted for Idea of the Year in conjunction with RTC North and the Innovation SuperNetwork.
Barrier Ex, Railview, and Cievert will be pitching their ideas at the North East Innovation Awards at Venturefest North East in November. During the event, there will be a live vote hosted by a panel of judges who will select their favourite business for this year’s winner.
The title is a new category that has been added to the Innovation Awards which took place for the first time at last year’s VentureFest North East. The award will be bestowed to the business that can demonstrate how their “idea” could significantly impact any or all of the following sectors:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Offshore and Energy Technologies
- IT, Software, Creative & Digital
- Healthcare and Life Science
Encouraging businesses to innovate and think outside the box, the Idea of the Year Award has been delivered in partnership with RTC North via the Pathways to Innovation programme and VentureFest North East. RTC North’s Programme Lead, Paul Marriott commented:
“It was a tough list to whittle down, but I think we have produced a shortlist that is credit to the region, and one that they can be rightly proud of. I’d like to thank all those who took part in the application process and wish them well with their ideas and I’m sure there will be other opportunities to support them.”
“Simon Green, CEO of the Innovation SuperNetwork added: ‘The new Idea of the Year award with RTC North is a fantastic opportunity for start-ups and small businesses with innovative early-stage
ideas as not only do they get to pitch to over 800 delegates at VentureFest North East but also gain support from experienced business advisors as part of RTC North’s Pathways to Innovation programme’
